and so began the first of his works, a miniature elephant, which was later cast in silver. Realising his talent for creating sculptures, Donald went on to produce his first bronze, a malachite kingfisher.
A year later Donald and his family went to the art enriched town of Florence, Italy where he studied at the Lorenzo de Medici School of Art, gaining both experience and inspiration. He also spent time at some of the world famous foundries in that historically rich country learning the age old processes of bronze casting.
Donald is commissioned on a regular basis to create pieces for both the corporate world and the private investors. Donald's work is processed at the Bronze Age Foundry in Simonstown, near Cape Town, which was founded by Clive Calder.
Today Donald lives in Cape Town with his wife, Ali and their two children, Tamsin and Nicholas.
